On a recent rip to L.A, I caught up with Jordan Younger, aka The Balanced Blonde. And of course, I took the opportunity to ask her some burning questions and to nab a yummy dinner recipe off her…
What is your personal nutritional philosophy, and what are the main principles underlying it?
BALANCE, it’s all about listening to your body. I don’t believe in dietary labels. I think that eating whole foods from the earth is fabulous and will make you feel great, but that sometimes we need a little more protein and sometimes we need to eat the damn cupcake! It’s all about letting go of those food rules and living in the moment. No processed crap. Just delicious, whole, balanced foods and enjoying them with our friends and family. Once we learn to let go of the rules, we can listen to our bodies and just be.
What are the ingredients you can’t live without?
COCONUT OIL, coconut butter, cacao powder, raw protein powders, Tara’s Whey chocolate protein powder, raspberries, blueberries, kale, almond milk, cold brew coffee, almond butter. You will always, ALWAYS find those in my fridge/pantry!
What advice can you give to those who are trying to change their eating habits? What is the first thing to start with?
Listen to your body! Learn to trust your body! Trust is absolutely huge. Once we learn to trust our bodies, we can listen to them and nourish them properly. And if we trust what we are feeling, then we are more likely to be true to ourselves in all areas of our lives — in our relationships and interactions, our work life, our exercise and passions, and more. And as far as body image goes: see yourself from someone else’s eyes. Drop the judgement. Fall in love with yourself. Pick a mantra. (More advice inthe book… SO MUCH MORE! I’m wordy, lol.)
What’s your favourite quote?
“If you are what you should be, you will set the whole world on fire!” ― Catherine of Siena
Who inspires you?
MY FAMILY! And anyone who follows their heart, chases their dreams, and has good intentions for those around them.
Any exciting plans for the future?
MY BOOK comes out in November 15th, yippee!!! And hopefully more books soon. 🙂
