This smoothie is the perfect breakfast or snack, and is a great choice pre or post the gym! (It’s best to add a scoop of protein powder if it’s a workout snack)

Bananas are a good source of tryptophan, which promotes the happy hormone serotonin – regulating mood and sleep and improves general health. Maca is one of natures powerful superfood to help the adrenals – which is ideal for those suffering from fatigue and stress.
Bursting with antioxidants, strawberries unique content makes them a valuable protection against inflammation, cancer, and heart disease. Strawberries also have strong anti-cancer affects, in one study, researchers found that those eating the most strawberries were one third as likely to develop cancer than those eating few or no strawberries!
Maca Root Powder is a nutrient dense superfood which supports the female hormonal menstrual system to optimal health. It is an adaptogen, which means it helps your body balance itself out, helping to alleviate cramps, body pain, hot flushes, anxiety, mood swings, and depression.
1 banana (preferably frozen – or add 2 ice cubes if not frozen)*
150 grams strawberries
1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder (optional) (I like the Sunwarrior brand)
1 – 1 1/2 cups of almond or cashew milk (depending on how thick you like it)
1 tsp maca (optional)**
*it’s a great idea to keep frozen bananas on hand, they are great to throw into smoothies as they make them creamy and cold. Simply peel the bananas, and break them in half (or in thirds) and place in a freezer bag or tupperwear, and place in the freezer).
** Maca has a strong ‘malty’ taste, which you either love or hate! You can purchase it online or from health food stores.
Blend in a high speed blender until smooth. Serve cool.
